Captain - does it make a difference?

Recommended Posts

Simply, does having a player with the captain card make a difference in game?

Konami says it does

I always try to have one

Probably only in master league though tbh

I think it does, team seems more organised but it could all be in my head

Never noticed it in the way I've noticed Fighting Spirit and Super-Sub.

But try to have one where I can.

The official description when you press 'help' while on player skills, is something along the lines of "Reduces the effects of fatigue for all players"

Can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in having a captain

I swear my keeper has made some better saves when having the captaincy card.

My Aberdeen CB Arnason has the card too, and he's the captain now.

Had 9 clean sheets this season and won my last 8 games in a row, I'd like to think it's more me than the captaincy card though

Don't think I'd like to play without someone having the card and being the captain if I'm honest.

no idea if it makes a difference :g:

think i've owned some players before who had the card, but didn't give the armband to them

i chose for someone who was at the club the longest (jullien, widmer, Muralha) or the best player (bonaventura)

Maybe they just play like a captain even without even having the armband :g:

Just like all the other cards, it works automatically.

Since 18 came out ive had a capt in starting lineup.. jags, danilo, perez

Jags & perez went in the purge to sort squad out after Sane but Danilo constant B form meant still always had one available

However, disaster struck.. Danilo went off injured last week & been given the dreaded E... so this week im having to play without one.

My habit of conceding early goals never really bothered me, until now.. early goal or 2 down without capt on field & everyone seems to be running in mud.. players miles out of position & a first touch like theyve just learnt what that round thing is & fancy having a kick

It may be connection a bit s**tty.. but ive coped ok with lag before.. it may be i allowed frustration to take hold.. but im used to games going like this

is it all in my head? i need answers for my sanity

Reduces fatigue sounds like a plausible effect.

Maybe it's just one of those Konami wonders though. You have to believe to make it true.

Doesn't need a captain, playing dead red players.  These fifa boys just tearing up the rule books

not sure the effect is noticable, but i like to have my captian to have the card, Zabaleta, Rodrigo Caio, Erviti and dave f**king edwards all have it on my team, usually pick the player with the best form out of players who have the card as captain for any game.

placebo effect in full force i think

I always give it to whoever has the card failing that, however is the captain of their team. I would say fighting spirit definetly has an impact when you're losing, unsure about captaincy

I always try have a few captains in the squad and in the first 11 if possible.     I think it makes a difference, players getting to balls quicker, that slight added bit of script.

I don't know if making a captain THE captain in gameplan makes a difference, but I do it anyway just incase.

I've always had one but since Tarkowski got upgraded to a 77 I couldn't justify leaving either him or Mawson on the bench for 72 rated Wright.

Haven't noticed a difference since the change, but if it is linked to fatigue then I probably wouldn't since most of my team has really high stamina (6 of my first 11 have over 80) and I rarely have players on the pitch that drop into the red on their stamina even in closing minutes of a game.

Only thing a captain affects is how much stamina is lost for a player, having one reduces by a percentage.

Possibly if the player has captaincy, the reduction is for the whole team?
