Xbox Premiership Season 6 Preview

Written by

The new season is almost upon us.  Today we look back at some of the goings on of last season, and forward at some of the changes to the landscape of the Xbox Premiership ahead of Season 6.

The first ever PEN radio show went live this past Sunday night.  It was a great show from all involved and the first bits of information were released about the new season.  The new members were given their brands and informed who would be in their squad.  The new Board of Directors was announced.  In a press release from the evil banker DavoteK the following morning, some more details were divulged, the transfer window was to open this Wednesday, as well as the date for the first round of fixtures being released was given as Monday 15th December.  With only the weekend to come between now and the kick off, let's preview some of the key changes and talking points in the Xbox Premiership this season.

The Old Guard
Last season the top flight was made up of 12 teams.  Of those 12, only 5 remain in a new expanded division of 16.

Reigning champions Liverpool booked their flight to the Xbox One just in time for the new season. Having won the Premiership title two years running, and a Green League title before that, manager Bushlerker has standards to keep up this season.  When asked could his team win a record third consecutive top flight title, he had this to say "Why aye man, we get the party goin!"

Dscru has taken charge of Bayer Leverkusen for the upcoming season, bringing his squad along to Germany with him from Chile.  His former side, Deportivo Antofagasta were removed from the league by the PEN FA after some financial trouble, believed to be centered around a dispute about wages and image rights owed to a certain Thomas Muller, who is said to be very happy about returning to Germany.

Atletico Madrid are still being managed by PJM, who after initially planning on taking his team to PlayStation,  decided the grass wasn't greener, and was infact blue on the other side.  Not a fan of blue grass, musical, proverbial or actual, he booked a return flight and re registered his team for the Xbox Premiership.  Atletico have been one of the most active teams in the market so far, building quite a chunk of change in the process.  Manager PJ is still believed to have dreams about Mario Mandzukic at nights.

Things at Udinese look a lot shakier than they did a few short months ago.  Many players failed to report for pre season training and have been officialy declared AWOL, including legendary goalkeepers N'Diaye and Olimpa.  Zebrette fans were starting to look up towards the end of last season, the skeleton squad that started the campaign had been filled out, with the marquee signing of Rodrigo Palacio capping some solid work in the transfer market.  Palacio failed to oust Jonathan Walters up front and was soon traded for Marek Hamsik, who then decided that he wanted to move to China, Udinese fans were overwhelmed when they managed to sign one of the golden boys of PEN in Stephen El Shaarawy, however he failed to make a single official appearance for the club after a paperwork error saw him make his way to the auction house and Udinese placed in administration.  Manager Skobi Wankenobi will be looking for his side to write a few scripts in the upcoming season.

The final team from last season still in the division is  West Bromwich Albion , managed by Notorious.  The self proclamied Peoples Champion has a tough task on his hands this season, pre season form has been dire and the fans are beginning to turn on their manager.  Asked about cries from the fans to make some signings Notorious said "What do they want from me?  These lads are pretty much champions, they won the league last year, at least the non level lovers league.  The game has changed and we need to be at our best to even hope to get into the top half of the table"  Many in the press are tipping the Baggies for relegation, manager Notorious has been 4 full seasons without silverware now and appears to be delusional.

The Promoted
After a fight to the final day in Division 1 last season, Dudka's Maccabi side are looking to test themselves in the upper echelon.  Star player David Alaba has been ushered into the dungeon after demanding a pay rise that the club could not afford, his agent demanding he earn 30m for the season.  Division 1 Champions Maccabi, already heavy in the wage multipliers, were left with little option.

Division 1 Runners Up Guangzhou Evergrande and their manager Jimus are gearing up for the season ahead.  Last seasons two most prominent stars from their perspective, Jackson Martinez and El Shaarawy, have both now departed.  The Tigers will be looking towards Super Samou and new signing Jeremy Menez for inspiration, also known as flying volleys.  The main question is can manager Jimus stay focused on his side and keep them in the hunt whilst combining his managerial role with that of a spot on the new Board of Directors for FC Slag.

The Side Switchers
Also on the board of FC Slag is Govie.  Bringing his frillypink Nice side to pastures green for the first time.  Govie has delcared his intention to make a squad filled with players from the Home Nations.  Again, Nice fans will be wondering about his ability to do this at the same time as working for FC Slag.  They are also concerned about the suncream bills for a load of pasty Brits living on the south coast of France.

Another former PlayStation player making his way to Xbox for the first time is PEN founding member and market maniac Spragga.  Spragga has, as expected, already made a few deals.  With massive prospective wages, a few of the high earners have left Milan already, much to the dismay of the Internazionale fans.  West Brom manager Notorious has backed Spragga, having already told his own fans to shut up, he had this message for the Inter fans, "What are they moaning about?  They've signed Luis Fabiano for crying out loud.  Their manager knows what he's doing"  Spragga did an exclusive interview with ProEvoNetwork.com on Wednesday, be sure to check it out.

The Returning Cast
Returning to PEN, and the Xbox Premiership after a year long sabattical are Mancan, who will be taking charge of Flamengo, and two former champions in Magic Bruno, and double Premiership winning manager Sx.

Bruno is taking over the reigns at QPR from Harry Redknapp, who is said to be uncomfortable with the amount of deals done on PEN.  Incidentally, Bruno has already done a deal with the PEN equivelant of Arry, Spragga.  Sx has taken charge of Palermo, keep an eye out in the market for this manager, who will certainly want to build on what is a solid base of players at Palermo in order to compete for the title.  Names such as Carmona, Kuyt and Brunt are familiar to long time PEN managers, all aware of the quality of these players, and the ability of the manager taking charge of them.  Mancan previously had a great working relationship with Gio Dos Santos, but with him in China, the new Flamengo boss will hope Nathan Dyer and Andros Townsend can have the same sort of effect for his new side.

The Divide Crossers
That brings us to the newcomers to PEN.  firstly we have G Zola, who was handed a mammoth budget totalling almost £120m upon his arrival at Osasuna.  He has been active in the markey already, making some moves and a lot of offers.  Jordy Clasie is the latest player to move to Spain.  Zola is already experienced in the transfer market, having been a member on the original PEN many years ago and more recently managing on FLM.  Zola isn't the only manager to have been playing that other football game of questionable quality on FLM, and come to PEN in search of wonder goals and 'gem' players. Oldeuboi has taken charge of Fluminense and Chevio Verona have a new manager in Howson JAWZ.  Oldeuboi is on the lookout for South Korean players and has already signed one in Son Heung Min, who joins from West Brom in part exchange deal with Portuguese right back Joao Periera.  Howson is blessed to have World Cup winning utility man Christoph Kramer in his Chevio side.  Dribbling machine Vladamir Veiss will be a danger on the wings and with Glik at centre back, Pantilimon in nets and PES hero Jelle Vossen up front, this is definitiely a solid squad.

The Newcomer
Last but not least, our only total newcomer with no experience of the set up is MRB_UK, who is the new manager of Elche.  Don't let that fool you though, MRB is a talented coach, his myClub squad being very high on the leaderboards, and he is looking to have a knack for the management side of things already, making several deals early on.  Including bringing in Ola Toivonen.  MRB is known to prefer a strong presence up front, and securing one so early is bound to make him a contender this season.

So there we have it, a round up of all the squads and managers in the Xbox Premiership ahead of Season 6.  Only a few days left, and this season is shaping up to be the best one yet.  The bookies have made champions Liverpool favourites for the title, though little is known about many of the newcomers.  It's going to be tough at the top and the bottom of the league this season, thats for sure.
