A Perfect Debut

Written by
21 minutes, that was all. That was all it took for Thomas Muller to get his first goal at Sevilla, and in his debut match. Straight from kick-off the ‘Machine’ made an impact, constantly chasing down the opposition, putting them under pressure. And that was without the ball.

With the ball at his feet, Muller was looking to push forward, shoving off defenders, trying to get on the end of the passes to get a shot off, and it wasn’t long before the inevitable happened. A poor low pass to the halfway line found the feet of Piatti, taking a touch and then hitting a high pass to Muller, and with great chest control and first touch, it was blasted with a bit of outside curl from 25yards out, leaving the GK no chance.

Muller also scored the second goal of the game, slick 1-2 passing outside the box with Piatti allowed him to get ahead of the defender and coolly slott it to the bottom right. Taking both goals and a MOTM performance for a debut is a sign of things to come.

We caught up with him post-match “I think we played well as a team, we defended well and kept focus”. Asked how he felt about his goals, he responded “They were good goals, from great passes, we cannot score without being a team, so I’m happy that we are functioning together”

Thomas Muller arrived at Sevilla in mid November for ℗50m.

Another player making his debut was Dummet, the left back played and will be keen to seal a first team spot.

In other Sevilla related news, rumours are flying over the hinted departure of Fortounis, the Greek wonderkid is valued around ℗20m, there has been plenty of interest but no acceptable bids have been made.
