Zlatan Hunts Division 2 Record

Written by
Zlatan Ibrahimovic might have left it too late to overcome Thomas Muller in the division 2 goal scoring chart. When Ibrahimovic came to Barcelona, he had set his mind on toppling Muller's recent record and with only 5 games left for Barcelona, Ibrahimovic is 10 goals short.

Ibrahimovic has set himself some task but scoring 19 goals in 10 league games is a very good record to have when Muller has scored 29 goals in about 25 games.

Ibrahimovic said: "I wanted to be division 2 top scorer when I came here in the middle of this campaign but I am 10 goals short with only 5 games left so I will need to score atleast a hat-trick in all my remaining games and hope that Muller breaks his leg, I can do it.  I am loving my time at Barcelona, the players around me are excellent and they look up to me to score the goals for the team, I have 19 goals and I will be hoping to break the 30 mark at the end of the season, my contract is up after season 9 so I will just need to wait and see if Flanny will still want me."

The tall Swede has a reputation for trouble-making but his goals have won eight consecutive league titles with five different clubs including Ajax, Juventus and Inter Milan. He joined Barcelona in July 2009 in a deal worth €69.5 million but fell out with Pep Guardiola before returning to Serie A with AC Milan and then Paris Saint-Germain and now he has re-signed for Barcelona under Flanny.

We spoke with Flanny: "Zlatan's contract is up after season 9 but we will definitly be sitting down with Zlatan's representatives and we will see if we can come up with an agreement for Zlatan to stay longer, I know it will be hard to keep Zlatan happy with being in division 2 but we have a small chance of reaching the playoffs so will be concentrating on each game at a time and hopefully get promoted to division 1 in the near future. Zlatan is one of the best footballer's that I know and have managed, when Zlatan said to me when I signed him that he was going to be top scorer in this division, I laughed, but now Zlatan is into second place and he could get into first place, I wouldn't put it past him."
