Espanyol ready for battle

Written by

New manager Darren Addison arrived at Estadia Cornella- EL Prat with a non-existent reputation but he wasted no time in blowing that out the water with a string of big transfers

that saw Fernandinho, Javier Mascherano, Andre Ayew and Casemiro arriving to the delight of the blanquiazules. The new manager brought in a total of 9 players (206.5m PENce) and 9 being sold (106.5m PENce), trying to find balance in the team was difficult to begin with but with a few friendly games and multiple changes of formation it finally looks like RCD Espanyol have found the formula to success. The PS4 Division 1 had already got underway as Darren Addison was still in the process of resolving this dilemma but with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 defeat already not much damage had been inflicted, with the team now settled and tactics in place confidence is growing around the Spanish club that a play-off challenge could materialize this season.

The one worry lots of fans had when new man Darren Addison arrived was would he and the controversial Pablo 'Dani' Osvaldo clash? Well the did and it caused fireworks!! Osvaldo was almost out the door not once but twice as the manager struggled to contain his strikers antics that included smoking in the changing rooms and taking nude selfies, when all seemed lost and Italian international looked certain for departure he scored 2 goals in a 3-0 win against Montpellier to convince Addison that he deserves a 5th chance...

An unusual signing was the arrival of the former Glasgow Rangers man Sone Aluko for 8.5M PENce, Addison remembered him from his coaching days at Rangers before taking the hotseat at Espanyol and made it his personal mission to get him to Spain. The fans were unsure about the Nigerian until he impressed in a few friendlies and has quickly become a fan favourite.

Season 9 is about to go into full swing and things are looking good for the blue and white of Barcelona, the fans feeling good about their teams chances and happy with the young and adventurous manager who they have nicknamed joven rey.
