AZ Alkmaar: Season 12 Stats & Stories #3

Written by riq1987

Welcome to the third part of AZ Alkmaar's STATS & STORIES in Season 12. Part #2 ended at fixture number 12, today we are at fixture number 21, so 9 games to add to the STATS of the players at AZ Alkmaar.

At AZ Alkmaar we keep track of the goalscorers, players setting up the goals, the ratings, cleansheets and the MotM. This way we can judge if a player is performing like they should at AZ Alkmaar.

During the last 9 games, AZ Alkmaar made two big signings. Nicolò Barella was signed from the auction, for a staggering 43M (48M including bonusses), and Memphis Depay was signed from BlueBird for a record fee of 70M.

Oussama Idrissi (DjQuantum) and Ezequil Cerutti (Hulk) also joined AZ Alkmaar, both players were acquired for 15M per player.

To make these transfers possible, AZ Alkmaar needed to say goodbye to; Egidio (Bridgey) , Sven van Beek (Beezo), Mehdi Abeid (Drock), Federico Di Francesco (Bussola) and Alessandro Matri.

AZ Alkmaar is still in the race for the top spots, but there is a lot of work left to be done to realise the dream of winning the PS4 Prem title. All in all it has already been a fantastic year for the newly promoted AZ Alkmaar. Whatever spot the team finishes, it will always be a club record.

TEAM PERFORMANCE

Overall, the board is satisfied with the performances in the last 9 games of AZ Alkmaar. The overall record of the last 9 games is: W6 D1 L2. The fans at AZ Alkmaar can't help but feel sorry for the draw (2-2 ) against Seanachais, St Pauli and the loss (3-2) against Wheresmark, Guangzhou. In both games AZ Alkmaar conceded in the dying seconds.

The loss against Big Boss (3-1) is seen as a poor team performance, a lot of passing mistakes didnt help the team. Still, conceding two goals from corners is always harsh.

The other 6 fixtures were converted in 3 points, albeit a bit fortunate in some, especially the games against Parrish, Brighton (2-1) and Rambovanhardnut, Nottingham Forrest (1-0) were close games, which could have ended otherwise.

The other games versus Sunzibad, Monaco (4-2), Cartesian, Stade Rennais (6-2), Qvart, Clermont Foot (4-1) and Dortaboy, AC Milan (4-1) were more convincing.

TOPSCORERS

Sebastian Driussi - 21
Andre Horta, Brandley Kuwas - 4
Derrick Luckassen, Angel Romero, Claudio Aquino - 3

Sebastian Driussi celebrating another goal

It is clear that Sebastian Driussi is the main man in attack. With a stunning 21 goals he isnt quiet yet near Scotty "doesnt know" Hogan, but still an impressive number nonetheless. Driussi has proven himself to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the PS4 Prem, which resulted in Dortaboy, AC Milan trying to injure him after he put his 4th behind the AC Milan goalkeeper. At AZ we arent satisfied with the amount of goals from the wingers Angel Romero and Brandley Kuwas, they should be banging in more goals, but opponents have learned from AZ strenghts and try to keep the skillfull wingers on the sideline. We are still waiting for Angel Romero and Brandley Kuwas to bring their "friendly form" into the league games, goalwise.

ASSISTS

Andre Horta, Angel Romero - 6

Sebastian Driussi - 5
Brandley Kuwas, Michel Machodo - 3
Andre Horta has been in great form recently, bagging a few goals but mainly being important by setting the goals up. The silky AMF is one of the main players of AZ Alkmaar, with opponents always wondering "WHO IS THAT GUY?". Angel Romero is also keeping up his form, together with Andre Horta he is leading the assist chart. Honourable mention should go to RB Michel Machado, who got some extra competition from Daryl Janmaat. Michel Machado isnt keen on sitting on the bench and has performed well, number 3 on the chart, with 3 assist.

CLEANSHEETS

Tomas Vaclik - 4
The AZ Alkmaar defence only managed to keep 1 cleansheet in their last 9 fixtures. Still, with 35 goals conceded, AZ Alkmaar is performing like a top team in the PS4 Premiership.

HIGHEST AVERAGE RATING

Sebastian Driussi - 6.68
Brandley Kuwas - 6.20
Andre Horta, Angel Romero - 6.19
It is not a surprise we are seeing the familiar faces in this chart. Sebastian Driussi reaping the rewards from his goals, and the same goes for Brandley Kuwas, Andre Horta and Angel Romero, who have all been important with goals and assists. At AZ Alkmaar we are still of the opinion that KONAMI should be subbed out for a jury with more knowledge of football.

MOTM

Sebastian Driussi - 7
Brandley Kuwas - 2
Andre Horta, Thiago Mendes, Angel Romero, Pieros Soteriou - 1
Again, no surprise that Sebastian Driussi is leading the MotM chart, he has been important with his goals. Thiago Mendes had a great performance against Qvart, Clermont Foot. While Pieros Soteriou scored the winner is a super sub performance against ParrishJ, Brighton.

SUMMARY

All in all, it is clear that Sebastian Driussi is standing out on most of the charts. At AZ Alkmaar we are hoping he stays fit, because opponents are starting to target him. Time for Angel Romero, Brandley Kuwas and new signing Memphis Depay to step up. Season 12 is almost reaching its climax, will AZ keep up the form? Some great opponents to still face, but AZ Alkmaar have shown in the past they can handle every opponent, consistency will be the key.
